Keys, briefcases and word collections

Besides the standard word collection that you can know from the tabletop Codenames, we've prepared something new for you - thousands of new thematic words you can start collecting. All of them are sorted into 13 categories. These thematic words are not available from the beginning; you need to collect them and build your unique word collection based on categories you like. The words can be collected from briefcases. To unlock those briefcases, you need keys. When you fill the bar of keys, you have enough of them to do it! Just tap on the briefcase and choose the word you like!

Or we could just tell you. They allow you to play special collectors missions using your words and words that your fellow players have collected. These collectors missions are focused on one bonus word category (such as movies, fantasy, or traveling). 

You receive the invitation to your first thematic mission when you collect five words from a single category. Then you can look forward to more of them every 5th word in each category. Later in the game, you can find up to two word categories combined with some VIP modes in VIP invitations. And don’t forget, you can always start a friendly game with your own word collection and have fun with your friends, even if they haven't unlocked those words yet.

We understand. There are never enough keys. Don’t worry; we have a solution for you! You can find some keys in daily cases and regular missions. They are given out as rewards for achievements. You can also earn more keys from some upgrades on higher levels.

When you collect enough words from a single category, you are rewarded with a particular figure. They show you how many words you have from each category. And don’t forget, there are some achievements connected to them.

Sure! If you don’t want to receive either VIP missions or rescue missions with a particular word category, just go to your WORD COLLECTION, tap on the category you’d like to turn off, and tap on the little switch in the lower right corner. The inactive category has a small red cross near its figure.
